Kirsten Aboard the Comfort : Random Things I Learned

Random Things I learned while living on the USNS Comfort:

The Marine Corps is a military service branch within the Department of the Navy.

The Nurse Corps has a distinctive insignia of a single Oak Leaf, on one collar point, or in place of a line officer's star on shoulder boards. Go here to see other Navy rank isignia.
In the US Military we use the term Lieutenant for one of the ranks (LT). In Canada they use the term Leftenant.

The ranks from the US Navy, Air Force, Marines and Army are not the same. A captain in one is completely different in another. Their insignias for the ranks are completely different as well.

Doing an Eliptical trainer while the boat is rocking from side to side can be very interesting.

The Navy is rich in tradition, from ringing the bell when a captain embarks or disembarks, to frocking and the changing of command.

If necessary, the men and women from the Army are able to take a "Navy Shower".

I have had this draft saved for a couple of months and realized I never posted it. So even though it is old I hope someone else learns something from it.
